In the very first unit of learning and acquiring English language learners will practice vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation as they master the art of introducing themselves in English.

This unit 1 exercise in PresentCHIA can be as simple or as in depth as learners want it to be. Make sure to create a separate presentation with only the information that you want to share with the class if you are creating an in depth project. Students are starting a journey learning the English language and exploring cultures of English-speaking nations. It is expected that learners will a lot about themselves and English culture as they discover things anew or learn about new things on this adventure of English language acquisition. There may be things that they like or don’t like. There may be new perspectives or perceptions utilizing a new language. During the process of acquiring English language students formulate their own English identity. This program gives learners the opportunity to explore topics outside of class and to converse and learn about things that they really do like in order to provide a foundational and memorable language acquisition of English that they can use as they create more structural grammatic & informational comprehensions, vocabulary and terminology discoveries, and enhance phonological awareness. PresentCHIA is an approach that allows learners to personalize what they are acquiring in order to allow them to create a unique, desired and happy English identity when using the language.

Learners of English are practicing verbs in class or during their lessons. As a project to enhance acquisition and personalize the vocabulary learners are creating a presentation about things that they like doing or things that they do not look doing to share with the class.

Learners of the English language are practicing vocabulary and sentence structure (and pronunciation) for discourse pertaining to careers and job related terminologies.

Students and learners will present to the class about their own career or any careers utilizing English vocabulary and job titles. This activity emphasizes the unit in the classroom or online lessons about necessary work-related language in English. Feel free to discuss multiple jobs and multiple different types of careers. Whether you are interested in working at McDonalds, in customer service or as a CEO, we want to hear all about it!

Learners find pictures of styles or design their own fashion elements using vocabulary we have learned in class. Presentations can be an entire portfolio or one picture. The presentations much mention at least 3 different items of clothing or accessories and depict one or more patterns and colors.

In this unit learners are studying ways to communicate in English about locations and travels that pertain to daily life or vacations.

Motivating ourselves with our travel board and the places we wish to go using our new English language abilities is one of our first projects. Learners have a chance to showcase and present to the class a location where they have traveled or long to visit in their individual project. PresentCHIA Presentations about locations in the community are wonderful as well. Our goal with this project is to use English language to talk about places that we are excited about!

Exploration of English/American language through cuisine.

Students will find that there is a lot to discuss about food in American and English cultures. Research and projects must include a theme about English/American cuisine but can be about anything in the culture such as entertainment (and even common metaphorical uses) or recipes or agriculture. Whatever learners wish to explore and present to the class will enhance English language learning and acquisition. This unit accompanies instruction with vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar pertaining to everything related to cuisine.

Students create charts of their own based on English grammar charts in a way that makes sense to them which allows them to discover how the grammar works to form sentences about topics that they observe and find fascinating in the community.

Adventures in the English Language through study of English/American musical melodies and lyrics

The unit about music and lyrics in English language allows students to experiment with utilizing the English language by studying some of their favorite musical atists. Presenations about music could entail details about the atists, their music, musical instruments, or musical genres commonly sung in English, such as Jazz, which is indigenous to America. Accompanying classroom lessons for this project would be suitable for beginner-advanced level university students as lyrical elements are exciting to incorporate into everyday or artistic written works.

The unit about art & English identity encourages students to seek out English or American art that they find engaging and want to speak with the class about. Students go off on their own journey of discovery and come to the teacher with a rough draft of their work to perfect it before the presentation!
